Pathway

Fine Art + Digital Art
Project Title
Unit 13- FMP: FANTASY

Section 1: Review (Approx 150 words)
I have gained experience in many different areas- areas that I did not expect to have had the opportunity to experience. I have gained confidence in certain medias- for example; larger surface areas, different textures, new materials- such as gauche, cassette tapes, oil paints, watercolour paints, clay etc. I am now confident in my abilities in all of those areas and am comfortable with combining these skills throughout my FMP. My weaknesses are mainly my time management skills and documentation of my progress- this has improved due to my last project prioritising it so strongly.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx 250 words)
For my primary research, I am going to mainly use the fantasy fairy tale books that I already own, movies (covers), exhibitions. Secondary research can be collected via the artists that I follow on social media- tumblr, deviantart, twitter, Instagram etc. Fukari is my main inspiration for creating my own character designs, concept art and themes,
Justin O’neal (Instagram artist) is another online artist that creates dark art- primarily featuring women. Papeebs (papeebs.tumblr.com)- also similar in nature- showing mainly women with varying strange elements added to the portraits. I chose the theme of ‘Fantasy’ because it is a subject that relates to the styles of art that I am interested in and already have plenty of work that fits into that genre/style. There are many pathways that I can go down, plenty of opportunities for primary and secondary research. This project will mainly consist of fine art elements, with the occasional textile piece to add texture and depth to my work. I will use puff binder to create textured pieces - for example; sceneries (rocks, waterfalls etc) and animals/scales. I will also create my own paper from scratch to create samples that replicate ancient treasure maps from childhood fairy tales and adventures. I would also perhaps like to use melted wax and create a stamped letter seal of my own design in order to tie my work into old fashioned literature- an aspect that appears in fairy tales often.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx 100 words)
I will consistently evaluate myself through the occasional peer assessment sessions, my blog entries will also document my progress and what is going well/what is not and how I can change/achieve my desired outcome. I will also have my costing sheets to document the quantity and prices of the items that I chose to use in order to complete my designs to my standards. At the end of the project, I will have to fulfil an end of project evaluation to summarise how my project was completed and if it had the outcomes that I anticipated and worked toward.
